How to Stop Sweaty Hands and Feet
Suffering from sweaty hands and feet is not an uncommon problem. Millions of people in the US and worldwide suffer from excessively sweaty hands and feet on a daily basis. If you suffer from excessively sweaty hands and feet and feel that you are alone in this situation, please don’t feel this way as it is simply not true. Most of the people who suffer from this condition may feel embarrassed or ashamed and as a result have done a good job of not revealing that they have a problem with sweaty hands and feet.
I myself suffer from sweaty hands, so I tend to shy away from shaking hands when I feel that my hands may get sweaty.
If you are suffering from this condition and want to get help for it, you have to learn more about the condition itself first and what it involves.
Treatment for Sweaty Hands
The formal term for sweaty hands is palmar hyperhidrosis, it’s a condition in which a person sweats more than normal on the palm of their hands. Sweating is a mechanism which the body utilizes to help control its temperature and to make sure everything runs smoothly, so it is perfectly normal if you find that you sweat every now and then.
But when the sweating becomes excessive and you notice that you may have sweaty hands not just now and again but almost all the time, and it is becoming a problem in your life, you know that you have palmar hyperhidrosis and that you need to take some action to treat it.
If you have the palmar hyperhidrosis condition, you should know that there are things that you can do about it, ways to treat the condition and get back to living your normal life again.
The first thing you should do is to talk to your doctor. Let them know about your problem with sweaty hands and that you need to find a treatment for it. Your doctor should find out the source of the problem and try to prescribe you with a treatment that will combat the source for sweaty hands. The source, however, it often genetic and so a direct treatment is not possible.
However there are a variety of different treatment options for people suffering from sweaty hands. Your doctor is likely to give you medication for palmar hyperhidrosis to start of with, but bear in mind that medications can take up to two months to cause a noticeable affect. There may also be some side affects that can come with medication, but these can be gauged and the medication that is causing the side affect can be eliminated from your treatment.
If you find that just taking medication is not effective then you can always consider surgery. Surgery should be considered a last resort for treating sweaty hands as the process will permanently change the number of sweat glands on your hands.
